New computer has two hard drives

I just bought a new Dell that came with two hard drives. I have a 256g SSD boot drive and a 1t SATA data drive. They have separate drive letters, C: and D:.

Do I have to do something to utilize drive D:, or will the system handle that when drive C: is full?

Welcome to the Dell Community  @Bobbo3

Make sure the 1TB drive is set as the default storage.

You may need to create new folders on the drive???

Then start directing all your new content to those folders.

This way the SSD is for Booting and Apps that's all.

Best regards,

Thanks. While that was not the complete process, it got me started. In addition to doing what you described, I found that I also needed to go to "This PC". There I right clicked each of the folders and opened "Properties." I then clicked on the "Location" tab which showed the folder being in "C:\Users\*****\Documents" or whichever folder it was. I then clicked "Move" and selected the same folder in "D:\*****\." Some of the folders already existed in "D:\*****\" and some I had to create, but it was done.

The only twist was that Outlook no longer could access its data file, even after I told it the new location. However, the all knowing INTERNET had the solution to that, so, all is now good.
