x17 R2, BIOS update failed as BIOS requires password
Hi everyone,
Does anyone come across a problem to install new BIOS version 1.9.1? When I tried to download the file and run it, the system said the file version failed. When I run Alienware Update App and checked the updates, it sees that I need a new BIOS version. Then I click install and get this note: "BIOS update failed as BIOS requires password. Please remove the password on BIOS and retry." All other updates went without any problems. Why now it is something different?

Same problem here, solved flashing the new bios with the USB method.

Other posts have confirmed a bug and Dell is working on it. Have you tried to update manually?
