Avamar BMR Recovery fails
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to make a Bare Metal Recovery of a Windows Server 2012 R2 system (physical IBM Bladeserver) with boot from SAN Disks (Recovery to the exact same hardware as where the backup was made).
All Disks are presented through a VPLEX layer to the server.
The Recovery is always failing few seconds after it started and brings then the error:
Error retrieving the list of critical volume results
Restore results file not found: x:\program files\avs\var\volume-completion-status.xml
Is it possible that either VPLEX environment isn't supported or the fact that all my discs are connected with 4 pathes each (Multipathing) confuses the recovery wizard so that it's failing?
I searched all logfiles I've found and didn't find any helpful clues...
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Ville

Hello,
I had the same error and the technical support told me Avamar need the original size + 1Go for BMR.
For exemple when i have a disk of 500Go, i need a disk of 501 Go minimum for BMR.
I do this on virtual machine and physical, the BMR work's only when the size is lager than original.
I hope it can help you.

Hi Anais,
thanks four your input.
Unfortunately our problem is another:
The BMR Environment doesn't support multipathing and EMC tells us to disable all but one path in the SAN during BMR.
That isn't really a good solution for us but better than no BMR at all...
Cheers,
Ville
