Avamar + DD with Networker for Tapeout
A customer currently has a backup environment of an Avamar (7.3) and DD (5.7) at their production site. They also are utilizing Networker (5.2) for tape backups of some other datasets. They are filling up the DD capacity with backup data that has a SLA of 1 to 7 years. They would like to send these backups with long term rentention policies off the Avamar and DD to tape. The customer found a document from 2012 that outlines Avamar and Networker integration (https://www.emc.com/collateral/TechnicalDocument/docu41427.pdf). They believe this suggests that Networker can be used to pull backups off the current systems and output them to tape. They tasked me with researching if this will work.
Is this still a valid configuration (I am unsure since the document refers to Avamar grids and older settings)? If it is still valid, will this configuration result in the ability to export select backups datasets to tape?

Dillon,
The link you provide deals with Avamar being used as dedup storage node to Networker which I don't believe is supported nor promoted anymore. I'd suggest using ADMe https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-7910 which can be used to migrate Avamar backup data to tape and in your case they could leverage their existing Networker infrastructure.
