Avamar VMware Image Backup fails
Hey all, I am trying to figure out what I have wrong. I am trying to do image backups and the jobs fail after 10seconds. I have Vsphere 4.1 with the latest ESXi 4.1 builds and avamar administrator 5.0.3.29. I logged into the Avamar server, Vcenter server, and Avamar Proxy server and verified I can ping by DNS. Here is the log below and the error that I get in the Activity windows reads 10007. Below is my tree.

I believe below is what you need to focus on
avvcbimage Info <9616>: Available transport modes are (null)
Ensure proxy is setup correctly and VM is using SCSI disk for hotadd mode to work. vCenter should be added as FQDN with vCenter admin credentials in GUI and in administration section, edit the proxy client and select all available datastores to give access for proxy to datastore where VM is located.
Proxy VM should be able to telnet vCenter FQDN on port 443 and to ESX on ports 443 and 902
One proxy per ESX cluster is required to be setup.
You can refer attached VMware guide and ensure everything is setup correctly.

Yes its possible. There is no need to install avamar client on vCenter Server. vCenter simply needs to be added in administration section of avamar GUI at /
Hotadd is the mode where LAN is not utilized and backup is faster.You can refer VMware documentation on all transport modes available and we recommend hotadd backup and restore.

Thanks for the info. What is hot add iscsi?
It is working now. I had the Avamar Client installed on the Vcenter server, I removed it and added Vcenter back on and it started working. Is that the main cause you think?
