Avamar client cache and DDBoost
Hello,
According to training documentation, when Avamar client is configured to store backup data to Data Domain using DDBoost, it does not use Avamar cache, instead the SISL fingerprint filtering is done directly at DDOS.
I work on a customer environment with Avamar 7.1 and DDOS 5.5, Avamar clients are configured to backup to Data Domain, however both f_cache2 and p_cache are created and updated during the backup, and backup data are stored in DD.
If someone has a better explanation on this, please kindly share.
Best regards
Liang

Avamar / Data Domain integration uses the paging file cache for file system and NDMP backups. Database backups in this configuration do not use a file cache.

Hello Ian
Thanks for the prompt response, that answered this question.
It would be great if relevant documentation ( EMC official documents and training documents ) are updated, adding what you advised.
1) paging file cache is open at the beginning of backup, and updated throughout entire backup;
2) hash cache is open at the beginning of backup, and only update once at the end of backup, no updates in the middle of backup, which is in line with your reply.
Thanks again
