Avamar recovery with dead vCenter
I have avamar 7.4. If I lose ESX completely, we rebuild ESX but have no VMs.
Within avamar I can add a ESX host directly so therefore vcenter is not needed.
Whenever I do a restore, avamar is asking for a proxy. How do we get Avamar to not use a proxy and use another form of restore method?
My assumption with vmware integrations is that if hot-add (proxy) is not available then NBD (networking) should be used.
How can we overcome this? thanks!

Avamar with VMware image level backup requires vCenter. You can not add an ESX host to Avamar with no vCenter.

but you can add an ESX host into Avamar so cant you restore using "instant access" ?
This seems a flaw in recovery. I would expect an option to recover VMs to files for upload into ESX or restoring direct to ESX....
