Avamar7 SP1 with Windows 2012 R2 image level backups of VMs

Has anybody tried backing up a GEN2 Hyper-V 2012 R2 VM ( Generation 2 Virtual Machine Overview ) using Avamar7 SP1?

As a test, we brought a Windows 2012 R2 server with Hyper-V enabled and installed a Gen2 Windows 2012 R2 VM with 2 VHDXs attached as SCSI drives (one for OS and other for data) on it. Installed Avamar client and Hyper-V VSS plugin on the host.

When I try to backup the VM, it backs up both the OS drive and the complete data drive. I couldn't find a way to select just one VHDX. Is this per design or am I doing something wrong?

I don't want to backup the complete data drive but only parts of it and since there is no option to select anything I am backing up the whole thing.

Hi Sridhar246,

If I am correct, the only way to backup just one of the VHDXs would be to preform a client level backup and create a job that has only the deisred drive selected.

I will do a little research and get back to you as soon as I can.
