How to force local proxy usage:
So I was playing with " java -jar proxycp.jar --selecthotaddstore"
does anyone have history with this command? has it successfully completed for anyone? it sees the correct DS, but it does not make any changes to the proxy.
bottom line:
When adding VM's via Hosts and Clusters, if there is a resource folder detected it will add these dynamic containers into the default "ContainerClients" location. When backups Scheduled or On-Demand start, it will assign the first available proxy. This causes backups to not run as "hotadd" but via network causing slow backups. In my environment there are hundreds of DS which means manually selecting each DS for each proxy would be an administrative nightmare.

might not be much help but until you get an answer from someone else:
I have only used that command with --selectalldatastore that selects all datastores to the proxies.
most of us select all datastores and all groups
(in administration right click a proxy edit - datastore tab and groups tab, select all on both and ok.
)
we have had some discussions on proxies recently that you could look at.
