How to show the product serial number
Hello all
I know that the command omreport chassis frontpanel normally shows the product s/n on server the LCD line 1 on the front panel
However what happens if the LCD line 1 it's just showing something else?
Is there another way to retrieve the s/n from the product?
Thanks in advance.

This doesnt answer the question if the LCD line has every other text, in my case, only the IP address

Hello Alex,
The product serial number should be populated during factory prep operation. Obviously it did not happen, therefore the only option you have is to read physical label from the node itself (it is a sticker on component hosting LCD display).
I hope this will help,

Hi Adam,
In my case, I need to identify Avamar serial number from the Cabinet.
Im talking about of an Avamar Multinode Gen4S. So, What is the correct serial number should be registered on Install Base? Which is the cabinet tag should be taken as Serial Number of the Grid?
Thanks in advance
Edgar

Can you try these..:
ipmitool fru print | grep -i product
dmidecode | grep -i asset
ipmitool fru | grep -i "product asset"
ipmitool fru | grep -a5 EMC

Thank you Dileep...very useful commands to me
On that case, Grid is not powered up yet.. will be installed soon, for this reason I can issue any commands for now. Meanwhile, how could I identify SN from cabinet tags?
Do you know what is the tag that I should take as correct SN to register on IB?
All will be appreciated.

Here is the example for the command: Try if you can log-in using RMM.
root@XXXXXX:~/#: ipmitool fru print | grep -i product
Board Product : S2600GZ------ Model
Product Manufacturer : EMC
Product Name : S2600GZ
Product Part Number : 100-580-643-04---part number
Product Version : FFF
Product Serial : FCXXXXXXXXXXXX
Product Asset Tag : FCXXXXXXXXXXXX_100-580-643-04_FFF----- This can be used to fill IB.
For Gen4s it should be a blue tag or sticker where serial starts with FXXXXXX. To say frankly I didn't see the avamar Hardware physically.
