thanks a lot Leo Li....the link is working and I got what I was looking for...

similarly have you got any for Avamar 6.1 CLI and Error Message Guide for Avamar please as I tried on the support but no joy.

and also we are trying to install SQL2012-AAG on avamar using the AAG group.

let me explain you in detail

we have 3 SQL servers , 2 in PROD site and 1 in DR site- which uses SQL2012-AAG for Site Resilience -Site Recovery in case of catostrophic failure.

so we have managed to install Avamar Client and SQL plugin on the 3 servers and we have a AAG listener which is like a virtual instance

when we try to run the cluster configuration wizard on the primary node it should pick up the SQL instance(AAG Listener) which it has picked up but when we try to browse that lisener from the GUI to run the on-demand backup it is not able to browse and we have service accounts created for SQL to run the services for backup agent

can you please help me with the solution of what to do with the SQL 2012 backup on Avamar.

many thanks

kumar

Hey,

1. About Avamar documentation, please click the Avamar product support website.

https://support.emc.com/products/759_Avamar-Server

Click "Documentation" tab, you can get many Avamar documentations.

2. For your mentioned SQL 2012 backup issue, please check whether your SQL and Windows server environment meets the requirement on Avamar as following:

SQL Server 2012 support and requirements

The Avamar Plug-in for SQL Server adds support for SQL Server 2012 on the following

operating systems:

◆ Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (64-bit)

◆ Windows Server 2008 SP2 (32-bit or 64-bit)

◆ Windows Server 2012

On Windows Server 2012, the SQL Server plug-in is supported only on a stand-alone

server. Windows Server 2012 cluster support will be provided in a future release.

The SQL Server plug-in supports SQL Server 2012 in a cluster on Windows Server 2008 or

Windows Server 2008 R2, including AlwaysOn availability groups.

If meets the requirement, please refer "Avamar 6.1 for SQL Server User Guide" for backing up SQL server 2012. You can see the detailed steps from the guide.

https://support.emc.com/docu39190_Avamar-6.1-for-SQL-Server-User-Guide.pdf?language=en_US

Hope this helps.

thanks for the reply... this information is perfect and i will try the SQL 2012 on the single node and we are planning to upgrade this to avamar 7, hope this SQL 2012 AAG works on avamar 7

I was busy with one of the prod grid filling up as the grid has 101 TB and its capacity has reached 82% and i tried to remove the test servers data from the server and the GC is still not recovering any data.

i have checked the

avmaint config --ava to see the diskgoc=85 and when i tried to change that to 90 then it was coming up with a error message as the GC is working but nothing is recovered.

Result of GC:

Done
Status:Completed
Started: 2013-08-22 08:15:01 BST
Ended: 2013-08-22 09:15:01 BST
Passes: 1
Bytes recovered: 0 bytes
Chunks deleted: 0
Index stripes processed: 8189
Index stripes total: 16400

can you please suggest me how to proceed with the grids reaching 90% capacity full

thanks

Kumar
