Plugin type Windows Cluster File Server

Not sure if I just did not see it before or if it is new with 7.x

but I was making a new dataset and spotted this Plugin type  "Windows Cluster File Server"

Now I have a lot of Windows clusters

and I was instructed on how to back the up.

the Physical node has a Group that backups the C drive and the VSS

the virtual nodes get their own Group that backups up the drive associated to that node.

Both of these I choose window file system and specify the drives.

So when would you use this Plugin type?

Hi,

As mentionned by dynamox, this Avamar 7.0 Cluster File Server Plug-in is only supported on Windows 2012 server R2 or Windows Server 2012 cluster, it supports:

  • General File server (legacy failover disk)
  • New Scaleout file server (based on CSV)

The plugin auto-configures file servers and shares and only needs to be installed on one of the cluster nodes. It utilises a proxy architecture (similar to a Hyper-V cluster backup) which makes things easier to manage and configure.

For more details, please see the Avamar 7.0 for Windows Server User Guide - page 18 for further details.

Regards,

Adam
