Ports 27000 and 29000?
I know the avtar service communicates to the Storage Nodes on port 27000 and/or 29000. Do these ports need to be open also to the Utility Node/mcs as well?

There is a process on the utility node called "ascd" (Avamar server connection daemon) that listens on ports 27000 (and 29000 in 6.1) and acts as a sort of proxy for the GSAN during initial client connection. The ascd process provides the list of available storage nodes to the client (the dispatcher table) if it doesn't have an up-to-date copy and tells the client which storage node to connect to.
Port 27000 / 29000 is required on the utility node as well (but it's not talking to MCS).

you are welcome. That pic if I'm not wrong is from one of the training decks. If you need something official then you must contact EMC.
