Single Sharepoint 2010 Server backup on Avamar (system and file level)

i installed the MOSS client onto the sharepoint server but it keeps failing.  we only have 1 sharepoint server and it has everything.   I'm trying to get a system backup of the server while being able to get down and recover a single file (if possible) from the sharepoint server if someone removes a single file by accident.

can it happen?
