Suppression of error code 10010

We are new to Avamar Backup. We are running version 6.1.2-47. In verifying our nightly backups, we are getting error code 10010 on our CIFS share for open files. In review, it looks like Avamar Windows file handling provides exclusive access and non-exclusive access to open files. I understand Avamar makes use of OTM (on Windows 2000) and VSS (on Windows XP and later) to backup the files which are open by some other application. OTM and VSS create a snapshot of the file system which remains static. Avamar backs up the static snapshot and therefore does not contend with other applications that have an exclusive lock on the original file. Since this is the case and doesn’t seem to be a concern, is there a way to suppress this particular error message from reporting on the Avamar report?

Based on what you've written it sounds like you are backing up a CIFS share from a remote system, is this correct? VSS does not support creating snapshots for network paths so any open files on a remote CIFS share will not be backed up. Best practice is to back up shares directly from the source if possible (using the client agent if the share is on a remote file server or NDMP for NAS devices).
