VMWare Proxy over WAN?
Hi, is it possible to backup a vm via image level backups and change block tracking over the WAN? I was wondering if Change Block Tracking would only send the changed blocks over the WAN or would it send the whole image if the proxy was backing up directly to on offsite Avamar grid?

As long as the proxy has local access to the storage and the backup is being stored on the Avamar back-end, this is possible. Keep in mind that the initial backup would still send any unique data on the VMDKs across the WAN.
Note that DDBoost backups targeting a DataDomain back-end (including Avamar/DD integrated VMware backups) are NOT currently supported across a WAN link.
Also, a minor point of clarification - the raw changed blocks would never travel across the WAN. The blocks are chunked by the Avamar client software and any unique chunks are then sent to the server.

Make sure you have sufficient bandwidth, so you don't run into problems with restores.
FLR restores may also be a pain on a small WAN link, while the vmdk's are fabricated over the WAN to the flr-proxy or combined proxy.
