"No response code from mcs : 28001"
Hello All,
Please let me know how to resolve this issue on a Windows Server 2003 SP2. Avamar client agent 4.0. The error occurs during activation time. The message is "No response code from mcs :28001" I checked for no firewall. I also informed customer about opening ports 443, 28001, 27000, 29000 and 20042. Are there any special instructions for opening ports on 2K3 server?

From client to Utility Node port 28001
From client to all Nodes: port 27000
From client to all Nodes: port 29000 if encryption is being used
From Utility Node to client : port 28002
Ensure there is no activity going on the GRID when you are trying to activate.
You can rename existing cid.bin file from var directory and retry activation.

Hi,
Verify ping and nslookup and by name and ip for both sides (host and avamar server.)
Test Telnet from client to server 28002 and from server to client 28001.

Hi,
Could you confirm that port 28002 on client side is open?
You could test to telnet the client port 28002 from Avamar server.
Hope this information would be helpful.

I have this exact same problem now on a version 6 Avamar client.
All ports that need to be open are. Can telnet from the client to the grid on 28001, and can telnet from the grid to the client on 28002. When trying to activate the client it immediately comes back with
No response code from mcs :28001. Reverting back to mcs: :28001
there is no grid name in the reverting back to portion of the line.
I have already tried to rename the cid.bin file, and that did not help either.
