How can I change a Service Tag on a PowerEdge M610 Blade

I have a M610 that is 4 years old and the motherboard died. As it was out of warranty I sourced a replacement motherboard off eBay. Because it is a used working motherboard the Service Tag no longer matches what is on my Blade. Is there a utility that I can download to change my Service tag so it matches and how do I do it?

Hello

The 32 bit diagnostic utility contains the necessary program to change the system service tag. Download the program here:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-m610?driverId=4Y5N5&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3200446185&languageCode=en&categoryId=DI

  • After you boot to that then select option 4 to exit to a command prompt
  • Switch to directory c:\util
  • Use this command to change the service tag: asset /s xxxxxx
  • In place of the x's input your system's service tag

Thanks
