Physical2Physical conversions.. What are you guys using for x64 os

So platespin does not support p2p conversions with x64 OS so I am out of luck on that one.. Servers are booting from san and going from Dell 1855/1955 blades to M600's. I don't want to have to completely rebuild the systems. Any help would be apreciated...

Instead of thinking of it as a Physical2Physical conversion - what about just an imaging solution that would make a complete image of the server and then deploy that image onto the new blade. Would that type of solution work? I know there are several options for this type of solution. This one from Acronis came up in some quick research I did (disclaimer - I have never used an Acronis products so I am just pointing to it as an example - not a recommendation).

Thanks,

Hi there,

another possible solution : Symantec EXEC System recovery 8.X, also useful for bare metal recovery, image can be used for installing other servertype (i.e. Pe or HP servers, but drivers for different hardware are needed) , http://www.symantec.com/business/backup-exec-system-recovery-server-edition you can also combine the system recovery for servers with possible existing symantec backup solution

Cheers

What kind of x64 os are we talking about?
Did you try if your current installation is booting on the M600, you are booting from SAN, so do create a clone, isolate the M600 from the network and give it a try.

Thanks everyone for your replies.. It looks like I am going to have to try the acronis route. The 600's are way to different from the 1955's and cloning the lun and booting up causes a BSOD on the new server..
