Brocade SilkWorm 200E

I have the Brocade SilkWorm 200E fabric with 8 ports for now. i am looking under the port admin or click on the port number and indeed it is shows a U-Type anf not F or E Not sure how to enable this?

See the other thread, but you don't need to change this. It will change automatically when a device logs in to the port.

You would only change this if you wanted to prevent the port from configuring a certain way. For example, if you wanted to ensure that no one could inadvertently tap into your fabric by adding another switch with an ISL to an empty port. In this case you would edit the port configuration and only select 'F' in the allowed port types. That way the port would never initialize an ISL to another switch.

Make sure the port speed is set to auto and allow F connections (you can disable L and E types as well as trunking since you're not using those with a host connection). When the host is attached and working fix the speed to whatever speed it's operatnig at. Reminder: changing an auto setting to fixed will disrupt traffic, so please do this before actually putting the host in production.

Oh: make sure the port is enabled. It's a best practice to disable all unused ports, so before trying to connect anything, enable the port, so connectivity can work ;)
