CX3-20c replication and redundant path over IP
HI, is it possible to set up replication between 2 CX3-20c over FC and have redundant path between them over IP using iSCSI ports? Is it possible to configure FC connection as the primary and use IP as failover and this to be done automatically?
The idea is to set FC link as primary and have IP connection as secondary and the failover to be done automatically. Is this possible with native iSCSI ports or another device should be used to convert FC to IP ? For example if only FC ports of the storage are used for replication and we have another device that converts FC over IP. Then we will have 2 paths between each SP. Can we configure the storage to use these two paths with failover or load balancing options ?

You can use the iSCSI ports on a Clariion for host connectivity, you don't need any FC/iSCSI convert "thingy" (like a Cisco 9216i, Cisco 9222i or Brocade 7500) inbetween.

I was thinking about 2 redundant lines for replication between storages - one FC and the other IP. I know that there should be only one connection between SPs for replicatioin and I don't know if Clariion is capable to manage more paths for replication.
That's why i was thinking to use FC/IP convertor and manage the redundant paths through the switches. This way i do not have to reconfigure the replication every time when the primary line fails.
How Clariion manages the paths for replication, is it possible to have more than one path between SPs and how will the storage manage those paths ?
Could we set up one path between storages with FC and other with iSCSI ?

According to the SAN Copy knowledgebook SC can maintain two connection types (FC and iSCSI) to the same destination. FC, iSCSI and FC preferred are the possible connection types. If your CLARiiON is configured with FC as well as iSCSI connections, the SAN Copy wizard will automatically choose Fibre preferred as the connection type.
When a SC Session is started it selects the local SP port with fewest SC sessions running on it. Next, it randomly picks any port on the destination storage system through which it can see the destination. If a session is stopped for whatever reason it might take a completely different path when restarted¿
Therefore I don¿t see why for the FC preferred connection type iSCSI couldn¿t be a ¿backup¿ connection type even though manual intervention might be required to start the SC session again¿
Having said that if you were to go FC over IP for your failover path I don¿t see how you could make the distinction in the connection type.

How about MirrorView ? According to the knowledge book the connection type (FC or iSCCI) is determined per storage system pair. It is possible for one system to mirror over iSCSI to one storage system and use FC to mirror to other storage system. If both exists user can choose which connectivity type to use. As far as I can understand MirrorView can't use simultaneously both types of connection to mirror between two storages.
Also it is not mentioned if FC connections between SPs can have multiple paths and if the storage is able to manage them.
