CX3 spare drive question
We have 2 CX3 arrays. One in use and one as parts. Can i use the system drives from the parts array as a replacement for a failed drive on the other array? I wasn't sure if the system drives were formatted different or if anything would prevent this.

You can not use the system disks from the parts array, but the hot spare disks should be Ok. Once the system disk is faulted, the hot spare disk can kick in to replace the faulted one.

You can use any disk in the parts array as long as you understand that by using the vault drives from the parts array that will render it unusable. You need to match the capacity and type. There is no special formatting on the vault drives. Inserting a drive from one array to another array will trigger a format of the new disk. You should also remove the label from the old vault drive to indicate that it is no longer used as a vault drive.
