Connect SLEs to storage?
I have to connect one new SLES9 box to a newly given LUN.
For the HBA I dont see any major issues since we are using same HBA, Emulex models across the aboard.
Roughly, I just want to know sequence of steps what i need to do..
I have these:
- OS is installed up and running
- HBA is installed and already connected to Fabric switches.
- Storage is already given by the provider withy 500GB LUN2
thanks

1) instruct OS to discover new LUNs (use emulex script)
2) run powermt config to get powerpath to manage new devices (powermt config)
3) partition new device (fdisk /dev/emcpowerXXX)
4) create file system
5) mount
6) modify fstab to re-mount file system at next boot

This is a newly installed SLES 9. So we have the HBA and drivers installed.
When I run for the first time powermt display dev=all; I got this
device(s) not found
I run powermt config then powermt save.. no luck
Any idea?

Open navisphere , right click on the Array , click on connectivity Status
can you see the HOST as Fibre logged in ?
What is the service request number you opened ?

Open the Navisphere GUI , Right Click on the Array, Click on Connectivity Status
Does the HOST name or WWN appear in the List as Fibre Logged in ?
If not there is a good chance that the issue is with Zonning or the HBA is not configured correctly

In that case you should be able to see it under the Add Hosts tab on the storage group and should just be able to add it there

with the HOST Config. I recommend running an EMC Grab on the HOST and opening a case with OSAPI support. In the meantime ensure that the
Initiator Type is 3
ArrayCommpath is 1 (enabled)
Failover mode is set to 1 (powerpath) or 2 (DMP)
