EMC VSS Provider Issues while backing up Clariion Lun
Hello,
I am using backup exec 2010 to backup Clariions lun's. I am running EMC VSS provider on both the servers and when the backup is initiated the VSS is able to create the snapshot and map it automatically to the media server and backup it to the tape but when the backup is completed Iam getting below error. The backup has some valid data in Tape but its noting able to complete successfully. Does any one have any idea on this.
ADBO: Offhost backup cleanup failed during the deporting or resynchronization of volumes on the remote computer.
V-79-57344-34108 - An unexpected error occurred when cleaning up snapshot volumes. Confirm that all snapped volumes are correctly resynchronized with the original volumes.

EMC VSS provider internally uses MS VSS service for creating snapshots. The error you are seeing mostly happens when the snapshot internal files are locked by some software (Mostly antivius softwares).
Please follow the below recommendations to isolate the issue.
1. Disable Antivirus scanning on the host and try the backup
2. Take a backup of the System Sate with the native backup utility (NTBackup) and review the report to make sure it have backed-up more than 1500 files via Shadow copy (Backup (via shadow copy) of "System State"). This will eliminate any issue with MS VSS
3. If none of the above works you many want to open a support case with Symantec.
4. You may also open a case with EMC Windows support team if EMC side troubleshooting is requested by Symantec.
