I have a system with VMWare vSphere ESXi 4.0.1

I've downloaded "ESXi-Grab-1.1.0-release.zip" and after I run "emcgrab.exe" I have the output:

This ESXi version is not supported.

There isn't other version en EMC² site...so what's wrong ?

Thanks,

Mariano.

Aha, see emc245889, just use the IP instead of the FQDN...

I just wanted to mention that the grab utilities are also available for direct download via the following ftp links which can be convenient:

ftp://ftp.emc.com/pub/emcgrab/ESXi

ftp://ftp.emc.com/pub/emcgrab/ESX

ftp://ftp.emc.com/pub/emcgrab/Windows

ftp://ftp.emc.com/pub/emcgrab/Unix/

There is also the advantage of newer versions being available first via FTP then PowerLink as there is a delay incurred as it is passed from Engineering to the PowerLink team for formatting and upload to the website.

As for the issue specifying hostname when issuing the ESXi utility, it is also mentioned in the accompanying README file:

[...]

10] Currently there is an issue logging in using the ESXi server hostname.
    Please use the IP address.
[...]

I mention this for others that might stumble on this post as it has other considerations that could affect some users trying to run the utility.  For instance:

[...]

9] Currently there is an issue with passwords that contain the
   following characters "<>&'

[...]

Why is the ESX version of the GRAB tools not visible on Powerlink ? I had to search the forums to get the ftp path...
