How to migrate from centera to clariion

Hi,

In My environment they have a centera. Its a hospitality based client. They are planning to migrate from centera to clarrion.

Here the scenario.

The customer image has been stored on application for internally 90 days, after that it goes through the centera universal access (CUA) and stores in the centera.

Whats there plan is the customer image should be stored in application and copied to new array clariion(instead which stores in centera)which should stores the upcoming data.In the backend they need to copy the old data from centera to clariion in the back end.

If you explain me the process how it works ,it would be great. And if You have any documents regrading these implementation could you please forward me in the email.(gsr548@gmail.com)

Please consider moving this question as-is (no need to recreate) to the proper forum for maximum visibility.  Questions written to the users' own "Discussions" space don't get the same amount of attention and can go unanswered for a long time.

You can do so by selecting "Move" under ACTIONS along the upper-right.  Then search for and select: "CLARiiON Support Forum".

There wouldn't be any SAN based tools to perform this migration from Centera to CLARiiON.  Therefore, you would most likely be looking at host-based copy tool, maybe the application owning the data has a native migration tool, or possibly even EMC CTA (Cloud Tiering Appliance) could be considered if you map a LUN to a Windows server for instance; however, it would all be determined by the protocol the data is currently being accessed by while on the Centera and similarly the plan once on the CLARiiON.

Let's see what others suggest once you relocate this post as noted above.  Thanks.

The Utility is EMC DiskXtender. To know about the process, check https://support.emc.com/docu47757_DiskXtender_Microsoft_Windows_Version_Administration_Guide_6.5.5.pdf?language=en_US

Read chapter 3 and then 9.

Host-based replocation tools should work. You can try emcopy or robocopy.

emcopy is included in CIFS tools. You can search it on support.emc.com or

https://download.emc.com/downloads/DL32449_CIFSTools.zip.zip

Usage: https://mydocs.emc.com/VNXDocs/CIFS_Environment_Utilities.pdf

Robocopy comes with Windows 2008 and later. If you're using Windows 2003 you need to install Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools first http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17657

Usage: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1073.robocopy-and-a-few-examples.aspx

if data was ingested through the  CUA, how is DiskXtender going to work there  if it uses Centera SDK and not CIFS/NFS provided by CUA ?
