MAX LUN Size for CX4-240

Anyone have a reference that shows the maximum LUN size that can be created for a CX4-240?

The FLARE code is 04.29.000.5.014

According to KB article "What is the maximum size in bytes of a LUN on a CLARiiON CX-Series array?" https://support.emc.com/kb/7183

Prior to FLARE Release 19, the maximum LUN size is 2 terabytes minus 1 sector. The formula to determine the maximum LUN size in bytes is:

(2 * 1024^4) - 512 = 2,199,023,255,040 bytes;  or

(2 * 2^40) - 512 = 2,199,023,255,040 bytes

At Release 19 and greater, the largest single LUN that can be created within a CX-Series array is one that uses all the space within a 16-drive RAID group. For example, a RAID-5 LUN constructed with 16 300 GB drives would approach 4.5 terabytes. However, the maximum depends on the operating system. According to the EMC CLARiiON Open Systems Configuration Guide (Revision 34, page 20):

"Maximum LUN size may be lower depending on the operating system running on the server. LUNs with sizes greater than 2TB are supported for storage systems running FLARE version 02.19 or higher for servers running Windows 2003 with SP1, Red Hat 4, or SuSE 9."

MetaLUNs allow larger constructs that can include all drives within an array. The maximum metaLUN size is 16 EB (where EB is an exabyte, which is a billion gigabytes).  This is far larger than what can be constructed by using all the drives within any storage system. Therefore, the practical limit is the total capacity of the array (for example, 240 x the size of a disk). With 240 drives of 300 GB, raw size approaches 72 terabytes.
