Mix of SCSI HD in a Storage Array
We are running CX3-20 with 15k rpm 300GB HD.
Since we have some 10k rpm 300GB HD inherited from the old CX300 Storage Array, we would like to know whether we can use them in the new CX3-20 Array ?
As we are aware that the speed of the HDs are different, if we add the old HD, does it mean that all HDs (including those 15k rpm ones) will run at the speed of 2Gbps ?

CX3-series arrays can support both 2Gbit/sec drives and 4Gbit/sec drives; any particular backend bus will run only as fast as the slowest drive on it. So when a backend bus on a CX3-series array is configured with any 2Gbit/sec drives, that particular bus will run at 2Gbit/sec (other backend busses within the same array, could still be running at 4Gbit/sec).
That said, a CX3-20 only has one backend bus (redundantly accessible via independent connections to SP A and SP B) so configuring 2Gbit/sec drives into it would limit the backend to 2Gbit/sec. This may be fine depending on what the actual workload requirement of the array is.
