NFS Exports and Solaris

Question

I'm performing a NFS mount to solaris and running into issues with the NFS mount being persistent after a reboot. I have been looking into the issue of firewalls and nfs mounts. The issue is the mountd port in Solaris.

The way nfs works in solaris 9 is that every time you restart nfs, it grabs the next port starting at port 32771. Solaris 10 has a way to hardcode a port for mountd.

Our networking group has our firewall rules for mountd to be running on port 100005 (why that port, I don¿t know).

Can Celerra be hardcoded for a specific port for the mountd daemon? I've reviewed the Configuring NFS on Celerra pdf but didn't see anything related to port specific NFS exports.

We had the same issue, and according to our EMC rep. it is not possible to limit NFS to a single port or a small range on the celerra. We ended up opening a large range of ports on the firewalls. Our firewall/security guys were not very happy

yes, support eventually told me the same thing. I guess if they hear from us enough they'll update the code to allow the feature.
