Reclaiming Savvol space when Replication is V2

After having checkpoints running during data migrations, the checkpoint storage for one file system is 750GB while it is using 250MB. We would like to shrink the Savvol volume down to a more reasonable size so it can be put back in the pool.

There is no way to shrink savvol volumes.
The only way to decrease the space the checkpoint savvols are using is to delete all checkpoints using it. When replication V2 is involved, it needs to be aborted.
BUT: Then it needs to be restarted from scratch and a full sync is needed.
