Can connect without PEA file
Is it normal that I can connect to any online cluster without using any PEA file ?
If I use a wrong file, I get an error...

Yes
If you can connect using no PEA file that means you have connected using the anonymous profile.
You may not have write capability though it depends on how the cluster is configured
