How do I test retention using the Basic test server.

I am using test server 168.159.214.14 using pea file user1.pea.

I am creating an xset

setting xset base retention to 864000000ms (1day)

the field ".xset.retention.base.duration" is returning as 864000000

I am streaming in my file.

Xset gets commited with no errors.

I can still delete this xset using.

XSystem_DeleteXSet at any time.

Am i mistaken in believing that I shouldn't be able to delete it because the retention is set.

Is it because I am explicitly telling the Xsystem to delete the xset, or could it be because the server type is Basic as oppose to GE.

Also is there a good way to test to make sure that my retention is being recognized and keeping file from being deleted (XSet_GetActualRetentionEnabled("base") is returning true)?

Thanks!

George

The system you are using is in Basic mode so although it allows you to add retention periods to your XSet it will ignore it when a delete occurs

Thanks for the info!

Do you know if emc is planning on setting up test servers in GE mode any time soon?
