Migrate Clips between virtual pools

Hello.

Is there a possibility to move Data from one virtual pool to another without pulling out all data off the box and rewrite with a new profile. Maybe by changing the Clip Attributes to modify only pool ID?!

Thanks,
Gerald

No unless the clip XML file does not contain any pool information but does contain profile information then you can use pool mapping. This will only be available for older clips written before the days of pools.

The pool ID is stored in the clip XML file which is why it cannot be changed as it would change the clip contents thus change the clip md5sum

Hi,

We have a customer who only ever used default pool.  Is it possible to migrate this data to a new Virtual Pool without having to re-write?

Thanks!

EMC33,

Typically what is suggested in this situation is to:

1) create a new pool to write the new data into.

2) create a profile that has this new pool as the default pool.

3) grant the new profile permission to read from the existing pool (likely the default pool in your case).

This will allow the new profile to write new data into the newly created pool, and allow it permission to read from the default pool to read that data as well.
