Safest Procedure to Power Down and Power Up a CENTERA box

Dear All,

We have our Centera box located in a externally hosted datacenter which will have a complete power outage in the next 2 weeks.

We're looking for the safest procedure to Power Down and later on to Power Up the Centera, appreciate if anyone can list or point us to correct info/location.

Many thanks in advance.

/J

Use the procedures provided in the "Centera Online Help" they will be local on the host that Centera Viewer is loaded on.

The path will be similar to the following;

C:\Program Files\Emc\Centera\4_0\GlobalServices\doc\onlinehelp_3.1.3\webhelp\webconsole.htm

Shutting Down the Cluster

It is advisable to shut down a cluster only if a power outage is expected or if a maintenance activity requires the cluster to be shut down.

Before shutting down a cluster make sure that:

There is no software upgrade running: issue the show config version command to verify.

Application activity is halted: contact the application provider if necessary.

Replication is paused: issue the replication pause command followed by the show replication detail command to verify.

In a replication setup, first shut down the source cluster and then the target cluster.

Juang,

On second thought, you have two options. Thank you Glenn.

1) You can look at Primus emc66477

2) The Online Help tells you how to do this.
Download from powerlink and search for Shutdown

Hello -

Just for completeness' sake: The procedure to power the Centera back up after a clean shutdown is simply to turn the power switches on all of the nodes back on.

If power had been interrupted and the nodes had not been physically switched off (as you would do when following the procedure in the manual), they will automatically restart when power is restored.
