Calculating actual IOPS with Compellent

So hello people!

What is the best way you guys have calculated IOPS. The raw IOPs is easy enough 7k disks are about 80 and 15k about 150, what are the SSDs rated at? Is there an actual datasheet from Dell showing the actual IOPs for each type of disk?

But how do you work out the usable after the RAID penalties etc, as everything is kind of in one big pool? Do Dell have any documentation on it or anything?

Cheers

Hey!

Any of the Dell storage reps should be able to run it through the sizing tool if you know your read / write ratio, The compellent is kind of funny how you calculate the RAID penalty as it does not hard set the drives into a particular raid type, It will write at raid 10 and replay to raid 5 through Data Progression
