Compellent jumbo frame size
We have recently deployed a Compellent SAN as our primary storage for our ESXi 4.0 farm which has previously been configured to use Jumbo frames at the size of 9000. I've noticed when using a vmkping with a MTU size of 9000 from ESXi, that the Compellent SAN fails to respond. The legacy EMC device does not suffer such an issue. Does the MTU jumbo frame size for Compellent allow for overhead or should we reduce the Jumbo Frame size in ESX to be slightly lower such as 8950?

On our Series 30 controllers I've set the MTU to 9000 bytes for each iSCSI port. I'm using ESXi so unfortunately I don't get vmkping, but from a management console I can get through to the VMware hosts and the iSCSI targets with 9000 byte pings no problem.
