Dell SCv3020 - Storage Profile migrate
We have Dell SCv3020 setup as Dual Redundant with Writes on Raid10. After few weeks, noticing the storage growth is too much due to the Raid10-DM overhead. We decided to move to raid6-10 as performance is not an issue due to array is SSD.
We made a new storage profile directing writes to Raid6-10, we made new volumes and transfer the existing volumes(default profile). But upon reaching certain point we cannot wirte more on the raid6-10 since the allocation is limited while the Raid 10-DM has all the allocated space.
Question:
1. how can i free up the space allocation of Raid10-DM and let the Raid6-10 grow?
2. is changing the existing volume profile directly instead of transferring will help? is there any perf impact?
Note: total array capacity is still under 60% full

Update
2. We have edited the storage profile of the volume to write raid6-10 but still all write still goes to raid 10 since raid6 have full allocation .
Need help!

Hello em3r,
Support can help prune out (un-allocate) that R10 space, the system will do it overtime, but R10-3 is 200% overhead compared to R6-10 being 25% overhead, so it's best to call in and have support help out so you don't have to worry. There will be a small amount of R10 that will have to exist as that is where metadata is stored.
Thanks,
Dave
