syminq hba -fiber shows port offline

I always assumed that this means that the HBA port is offline. i.e a server issue. Mr Unix says that is not the case and wants me to block/unblock the switch port. Switch port is online ok.

Am I right?

Thanks

Steve

UNIX has a way to check fro OS side to check if the card is online using tools like fcmsutil or ioscan at different levels. So it not ONLY card issue which make things offline

As far as I can tell it has never worked. It's not logged in and the port is showing as offline when running a syminq hba. The HBA is a q logic dual port 375-3363.

are there link light indicators ? Blocking/unblocking is easy enough ..have you tried that ? Might have to check physical connectivity as well.
