AC Adapter not covered under Warranty?

I had a feeling this would happen the little rubber covering near there plug in on the AC adapter slides up and down and the wires are exposed and of course over time bending and moving it around the wires have torn and does not charge.

I called into support because I was under the impression it was under warranty and she said "normal ware and tear" is not covered under the warranty. Is this true?

An adapter that fails electronically (no damage otherwise) is covered.

Physical damage to the adapter or cables won't be -- it's wear and tear and/or accidental damage.
