Dell won't refund a used coupon when returning items
Dealing with customer service is a joke - I ordered 2 Nest Thermostats from the Dell website and used a $250 coupon I had been issued by Dell for a previous order as well as paying an additional $90 on my credit card.
The thermostats are not compatible with my system and I am trying to return them so I can order the correct one. Dell's customer support answer, they won't allow the $250 to be used on the new order.
In what world does this make any sense?

I believe what your talking about is a promotional gift card? Once you use the promo card it is gone and cannot be re-issued if you return the products. Its just like if you use a coupon at the grocery store on an item and returned that item, they will only give you back what you paid and not a new coupon or gift card.
