Is Everybody's Order Delayed??
I think Dell is telling everybody the same thing. I Ordered an Alienware A51mR2 laptop 3 weeks ago. Checked the status, wasn't updated so I called them and found out i had to cancel my order and redo it (still not sure why). Got a later delivery date and then rep assured me he would expeditite it. Didnt hear anything for 2 weeks and my order delivery date was coming up. So I message Dell back and as we were chatting the agent told me that there was a part shortage and my order would be delayed further but he had no info as to when. He offered a $100 credit as compensation for a $4500 laptop. It seems as though Dell is doing the same thing with every order: having it sit in limbo Until the customer checks up on it, Cancel the order and redo it over the phone, tell them it's a part shortage, and offer to expeditite it

It depends on what you have on order. There are just three configurations showing for this model on Dell's US website at present, which means one of two things: some of the other configurations formerly available (with higher end GPUs, for one) are subject to parts shortages, or -- just as likely -- the model will be replaced with a new offering soon.
Bottom line is that they can't build what they don't have parts for.

It would be nice if they told us this while we were waiting or better yet, didn't advertise shipping and production times they couldn't meet. If I knew I was going to wait this long I wouldn't have placed the order to begin with. Also what's the point of telling everybody their order is going to be expedited when it seems like every new order is delayed due to parts??

I agree.
Any company's secondary product is information about the product. Try catching a plane if you don't know when it departs.
My order was delayed (RTX3080 shortage?) but I only found out by going on to the Order Status page when it failed to arrive on the scheduled date.
And even when it was rescheduled for this week ("components delivery") I had to find out via the website.
Adam from Customer Care in Germany was great, but an automated e-mail or two would have made his intervention unnecessary.
Anyway, arrival is scheduled for TODAY! Woohoo!

Yes. On the 7th of July, exactly 2 months to the day after the order. And it's great. Not too loud, not too warm (although, the top exhaust vent is a good place to warm your hands).
And fast.
