Help! Need More Memory!

I am running a Dell 2400 with currently a 128 and a 256 MB memory sticks installed, but my memory is down to less than 20 percent. What should I do to get more memory space?

well, there's only 2 memory slots, and both of them are taken, so I can't buy any ram to put in my Dell 2400.

Per the online manual's technical specs ( here), the system can support up to 2 x 512MB. This would mean you have to remove the current memory to put in 1 or 2 of sticks of 512MB memory. I'd suggest removing the 128MB and replace it with a 512MB. Replacing it with just a 256MB won't make much of a difference.

However, you say your memory is down to less than 20%. This sounds like you may be mistaking memory and harddrive space with eachother.

Where do you see that you're down to less than 20%? Are you doubleclicking "my computer" and then right clicking the "C-drive" and looking at properties (you'll the the pie-chart)? If so, memory wouldn't make a difference as you're running out of disk space, which is resolved by buying a larger harddrive (or cleaning off unused items).

well, on the dell website I do the update thing where it scans my computer, gives me the system information and status of drives, memory, all that stuff, and it says that I'm down to 20%, but in system information it says I still have 120 MB left, and my hard drives I have 58% and 68% free.
