What kind of SAN are you attaching to? If it's a Dell|EMC or EMC SAN, check the EMC support matrix (ESM)
here.
A few examples for that older server would be a Qlogic 2340 or Emulex LP9802, but any PCI-X card on the ESM that's certified for your choice of OS will probably work just fine (I'm not sure the Poweredge 4400 would (still) be on the EMS due to it's age).
If you're not connecting to a Dell|EMC or EMC SAN, check with the vendor of your SAN to see which (older model) PCI-X cards they have certified.
