Access to DDBoost for RMAN 1.2.x binaries

Is 1.2.x binaries GA ? I see it in the list but when i click on the link all i get is an empty list ?

support.emc.com/downloads/25265_DD-Boost-for-Oracle-RMAN

Also is there an updated White Paper that describes new recommended settings for RMAN, i remember hearing something about support of multiple files per set (and how it does not impact dedupe anymore)

Thank you

Dynamox,

It's asking for your current EMC support credentials or for you to sign up for an account if you don't have one.  Once in you may still have to request access to RMAN 1.2 but I do see it listed in there now.  Feedback Central is the site that EMC will use to catalog and maintain access to all DataDomain DA/IA/RA releases.  You will be able to request access to these releases as they become available.  Email me directly at patrick.betts@emc.com if you run into any further issues and I'll forward your information to the team that manages FBC.

Best Regards,

Patrick

Dynamox,

The RMAN 1.2 OST plugin is not yet available or in IA.  I believe you're seeing a placeholder for it (as am I).  The current RMAN plugin is 1.1.1.3.  You can sign up for it by following this link:

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Best Regards,
Patrick

Dynamox,

Here is the RMAN Best Practice Guide with Data Domain:

https://support.emc.com/docu48791_Oracle-RMAN-Design-Best-Practices-with-Data-Domain.pdf?language=en_US

No info yet on RMAN 1.2.  I've reached out to the product team and will let you know my findings.

Dynamox,

This document is from July 2013:

https://support.emc.com/docu41103_White-Paper:-EMC-Data-Domain-Boost-for-Oracle-Recovery-Manager-%28RMAN%29-%E2%80%94-A-Technical-Review.pdf?language=en_US

I believe what you are looking for is on Page 15 (appendix).  If not, I'll ask our RMAN experts to chime in.

Patrick,

that paper is dated 2007, there is a newer paper that was released in May 2013 but that does not talk about filesets.

Thank you Patrick,

i just talked to our local DPAD SE, what he told me was that with DDOS 5.4 you can use filesperset=4 but one big caveat is that the data domain box needs to be dedicated to Oracle backups only.
