Hello,
Can someone please confirm the following 2 points. Thanks
Solved! Go to Solution.
DD6300 does nativity support SMT. VDP requires full admin access and does not support SMT. The boost account that VDP uses will have access to all mtrees on the data domain. Also note that VDP is only supported up to DDOS 5.7 so technically not supported with DDOS 6.0.
See Compatibility guide CompGuideApp
See KB regarding SMT support with Avamar\VDP: https://support.emc.com/kb/485632

Thank you very much for this info Ryan. Especially regarding the point of DD-SMT not being supported with Avmar/VDP at the moment.
It seems as though DD-VE + DPS for VMware supports VxRails workloads much better than native VMware protection. This includes Secure Multi-tenancy https://www.emc.com/collateral/handout/h15004-vxrail-dpsuite-vmware-ho.pdf .
However, given that many people will be using native VMware VDP for data protection and this worked and is supported previous physical versions of Data Domains, e.g. VDP 6.1 https://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere/vmware-vsphere-data-protection-overview.pdf , it will be unfortunate if we cannot propose the new physical DD for such a requirement. I hope that this is validated for support or there is official support from either vendor very soon. Your thoughts are appreciated.
