DD9500 Connectivity

Hello,

I've configured a new DD9500 running OS - 5.7.2.. Hosts on the same network(10.29.28.0/24) are unable to ping the DD interfaces (highlighted in red) but I'm can ping the hosts. Would you know what the problem is here?

There was no issue with the DD setup here.. The netbackup servers were not pinging the correct IP.

did the system come from the factory with 5.7.2 ?   Check this KB https://support.emc.com/kb/463360

Are eth1a and eth4a showing as "up" in 'net show hardware'?

Did you mean to create them as VLAN tagged interfaces to 2711?

Does eth1a and eth4a have no IP and show as "not specified" for IP config under "net show settings"?

Regards,

Jonathan

I think it strict reverse path is disabled by default on 5.7.2 from the kb.. Not sure how to verify that on the DD though.

Hosts are able to ping the DD on VLAN2710 - This is a native VLAN and works fine , however VLAN2711 is not native as the switchports have multiple VLANs tagged on it. Hence I created a VLAN tagged interface on the DD.

The routing seems fine, from the DD I can ping my gateway and all other hosts in the network the reverse doesn't work..

Thanks Jonathan, please find my answers below.

Yes eth1a/4a are up and they're running just fine.

I created eth1b/4b as vlan2711 tagged interfaces and the actual ports are up.

eth1b/4b are up but are 'not specified' as I assigned IPs to the vlans and not to the ports

It seems weird, the hosting team couldn't ping the DD yesterday but work like a charm today. I'll let you'll know if they're able to mount just fine..

Ran into another problem, my hosting team is unable to add the DD on their netbackup servers. They get a plugin error..

They're using netbackup 7.7.3 running windows 2008 r2
