DDOS upgrade causes missing path
Hi All,
I just upgraded from DDOS 5.2 to 5.4. and now I have a missing enclosure, with all disks showing as 'unknown'. After reviewing a few KB articles, I found a KB article# 182128 "DD OS Upgrade Causes Missing Enclosure Topology and Unknown disks" and cannot be fixed via reboot. Does anyone know when this will be fixed in an upcoming DDOS version from DD Engineering?
Thank you,
Steven

5.4.5.0 or something else? Also, which DD box? I had 10 DDs updated from 5.2 to 5.4.x and I never had this so it might be DD specific. Anyway, I guess you need ticket with support to fix it and in course of doing that they can also answer your question.

I ask this as I saw recommendation this morning to apply 5.4.5.0 due to some security fixes and I didn't had this issue with DD160, DD620, DD630 and DD890 that I have so far. I checked article you mentioned and not sure what to think as it seems to be applicable to many. I just checked (there is command system ugrade history) and this was path on one of DD890 I had (but all other had the same including lower models) - without issues so far:
Version Partition State Time
Number
-------------- --------- ------- ------------------
5.1.1.0-291218 1 INSTALL 11/21/12 10:37:31
5.1.3.0-338649 2 UPGRADE 04/25/13 11:37:19
5.2.2.4-370754 1 UPGRADE 11/14/13 14:35:27
5.2.4.2-404896 2 UPGRADE 03/26/14 12:52:59
5.2.5.0-414946 1 UPGRADE 06/19/14 13:11:16
5.4.4.2-453843 2 UPGRADE 12/11/14 13:02:24

What DDOS version are you currently running? 5.4.4.2? Regardless, this applies to All Software releases, but specifically pertains to the SAS 1 HBA and 0605 firmware version.

Correct... my next jump should be on 5.4.5.0 due to security fixes. I guess I will need to double check fw revisions before updating (but I assume I should error free due to previous jumps being ok unless troubled fw has been introduced in last version that I have).

It appears there's some 'special' procedure to be done, to fix this issue. Anyone know what this issue is?

This is something you will need to discuss with support (if they will disclose it in first place - enduser normally cares about his/her issue being fixed only and less about details as why). I'm happy that our DD160 went fine (I didn't check fw version involved prior to upgrade).
