Data Domain ES30 shelf migration
Please let me know if is ok? I will try to explain the scenario.
Site A
1 DD 2500 with 3 ES30 shelfs. The DD is empty.
Site B
1 DD 2500 with 1 ES30 Shelf. The DD is in production.
I need to move 1 Shelf from site A to Site B to have both sites with 2 shelf each. If I destroy the fs from Site A this will clean the data from the shelfs too? and have ready the shelf to be moved to site B? or could be another thing to do before?
I know I have to request a license migration for the shelf.
thanks for your help.

Yes indeed.
Assuming you are happy to kill all data on the donor DD - you should also perform;
storage remove enclosure 2
storage remove enclosure 3
This will make the shelves "ready" to be added to another DD.

hello, Jbrooksuk
the destroy fs, should be : destroy fs or destroy fs and zero ( I not sure about the difference).
And the destroy fs should be before remove the enclosures command right?
in summary:
1. destroy fs (destroy fs or destroy fs and zero?).
2. storage remove enclosure
3. disconnect enclosure and move to another site.
4. add the enclosure to the other DD.
is ok?
thanks.

Hi,
Yes indeed - you are correct.
filesys destroy
(the 'and zero' just takes longer and actually writes zeroes over the FS, you don't need that unless you want the additional security of the longer processing time and overwrite)
Steps 2-4 - correct
(storage remove enclosure 2) never enclosure 1, thats the controller
