How to query the DD2500 programatically?

I have two DD2500's.  One in one data center and one in another DC.  One of the things I am using these for is saving data from my several LPARs of IBM i, in each location.  Each DD2500 duplicates the "tapes" from one VTL to the other.  For example

DC1VTL-tapes get's replicated to DC2VTL-Vault-DC1vtlDR and

DC2VTL-tapes get's replicated to DC1VTL-Vault-DC2vtlDR

I would like to have an application, running on something outside of the VTL's, to be able to query the VTL's to ensure that the tapes match up and all is well.  Perhaps there's a odbc or jdbc connector into these units and somewhere there is a system catalog of the tables and columns available to query?
