What is "Max Client Connections"

When I run ddboost show conn I get listed connected clients, those active and I also get to see max client connections.  What is that one about?  I see most of the time this setting now on 180 as value (I remember that before I went to 5.2.4.2 I have seen it to be 340). Is it dynamic?  Does list current limit on number of ddboost connection?  Is it general parameter or ifgroup related?

The max connection limit equals to the max number of stream count supported by all protocols including ddboost in DD. It is a general parameter which is determined simultaneously by DDOS and DD model.

You could read through this KB doc to get details about DD stream count.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks.  How come that previously it did say 340?  DDOS bug?  Further, I believe this stream counts have doubled somewhere in 5.2 or 5.3, but I do not see that reflected in documents for DDOS as per link you have provided (also, document link to DDOS 5.4 seems to be broken). Last, but not least, this information is obtained under ddboost command - if not using ddboost which other command (vtl and nfs presumably) would one use to obtain this information?

Hi Hrvoje,

No problem. The value you saw isn't a bug certainly. Like I said, it is not just determined by DDOS only, but also by DD model. This information hasn't been put in any public document but internal material. As far as I know, it's the only command.

There is known issue if you use direct link or if you use multiple logins (eg. one for ECN and one for EMC support) which may give you access issue.  I just tried the link and it works for me - and I'm customer.  If you are partner you should have access and if not you must sort out access permission with EMC for your userid (as partner, you can contact your account manager to sort it out for you)..
